January Wrap-Up
Book News/Progress:
My book launch party! I was going to write a whole thing about it here, but I realized as I was typing that I want to write a whole post because I just have too much to say. Suffice it to say, it was beyond what I ever imagined!!
I tried to avoid the news as much as possible so I could actually enjoy my launch week, but I do have to share this one post from Authors Against Book Bans:
- I received my author copies! Actually, I first set eyes on my actual, real book at work when a box showed up there before I got my own author copies. My coworker started opening the box, got a quick glimpse, realized what it was, and immediately shut it. She then calmly said over the headset, “Nicole, could you come back to receiving?” It was such an exciting moment!! Then, when I got home a box was waiting for me there too!! I made this fun little video to highlight the moment:

- The audiobook is now available to pre-order, and it’s on sale for only $1.99 through Libro.fm as one of their Kids’ Club picks! I believe the sale goes to the end of January, so pick it up now so you don’t miss out! Of course, you can also get it through any other retailer that sells audiobooks (but $1.99 is an incredible deal!).
What I Read:
- I listened to Grounded by Aisha Saeed, Huda Al-Marashi, Jamilah Thompkins-Bigelow, and S.K. Ali
- I finished reading The Forgotten Magic of Zoey Turner by Erin Stewart. I really loved this book, which puts a new spin on The Hero’s Journey.
- I started listening to Sona and the Golden Beasts by Rajani LaRocca, and wow, it’s incredible!
- I read The House at the End of the Sea by Victoria M. Adams, a wonderful fairy fantasy.
- Then I listened to The Lotus Flower Champion by Pintip Dunn and Love Dunn. I’ve had this one from NetGalley for a long time, but never got to it, so I had to fix that before 2024 ended!
- I listened to Bull by David Elliott, a unique Greek mythology retelling told all in formal verse!! (David Elliott is seriously brilliant!)
- And finally, I listened to The Song of Orphan’s Garden by … me. 😂 I got a review copy of the audiobook so I could give feedback. It was very surreal to listen to someone else reading my book out loud, but Esther Wane and Keval Shah did a fantastic job with it!
