January/February/March Wrap-Up
Book News:
Well, this happened …
If you haven’t, you should go read my post about MY DEBUT MG NOVEL!! And I apologize to those of you who have already seen this everywhere (AKA the blog, Twitter–twice, since it also auto-posted after my blog post went up–Instagram–once as a post and once as a story). I guess you could say I’m a little excited.
Other News:
In March, my mother-in-law, who has had Alzheimer’s for a few years now, took a sudden turn for the worse, so we flew to Tucson to visit her and say our goodbyes. We are very sad to have lost her, but glad that she’s no longer suffering. Watching her slowly fade away due to dementia has been heartbreaking.
Then, immediately after flying home from Tucson, I left for New York and attended the SCBWI Winter Conference. The conference was wonderful, and it made me feel motivated to jump into my writing once again! I was at the conference for my birthday as well, which was fun. 🙂
What I Read:
- I read The Snatcher of Raven Hollow by Matt McMann and Momo Arashima Steals the Sword of the Wind by Misa Sugiura.
- I read The Guardian Test by Christina Soontornvat, Answers in the Pages by David Levithan, They Called Us Enemy by George Takei, and Good Different by Meg Eden Kuyatt.
- I listened to The Last Mapmaker by Christina Soontornvat.
- Loved every one of them!
- With all my flights, I finally finished some books!
- I finished reading Cantor’s Dilemma by Carl Djerassi, The Girl in White by Lindsay Currie, and How Do Meerkats Order Pizza by Brooke Barker.
- I also read A Long Way from Home by Laura Schaefer.
- I finished reading One Girl in All the World by Kendare Blake. You can check out my review (along with Kendare’s highly amusing list of Top Ten Addictions).
- I’ve also been reading picture books at B&N sometimes so that I can give customers better recommendations. I’ll probably feature my favorites on the blog at some point.
- I finished listening to Little Thieves by Margaret Owen. It was nice to listen on a long drive–made me want to keep going once I got home!
- I finished reading Jennifer Chan is Not Alone by Tae Keller. Loved it!
