May Wrap-Up
What I Read:
- I read Fairest of All: The Graphic Novel by Sarah Mlynowski, illustrated by Anu Chouhan. A really fun graphic novel adaptation of this early middle grade series. Fans of the series will love it, and it will surely interest kids who are typically only graphic novel readers as well.
- I also read The Hoop Con by Amar Shah, perfect for middle grade basketball aficionados!
- I listened to Greenwild by Pari Thomson, which is this month’s B&N kids’ pick. I really loved this book and I will definitely be recommending it at work. It’s great for kids who love the Harry Potter Series, but without the guilt of supporting an outspoken author with terrible takes.
- I read The Secret Language of Birds by Lynne Kelly. Watch for my review of this one tomorrow, but in short, I loved it!
- I finally jumped on the wagon and listened to ACoTaR. I honestly think that if I’d read it when it first came out I would have loved it, but I’ve read so many Beauty and the Beast retellings at this point that they all start to blend together. I will say that my interest picked way up toward the end when things veered away from the original plotline.
Book Haul:
Here are three of the books I’ve gotten recently. Simon & Schuster sent me THE IN-BETWEEN, and I got FAIREST OF ALL: THE GRAPHIC NOVEL and THE LIARS SOCIETY as ARCs at work (thanks, Scholastic!).
