I found this fun tag the other day over at a GREAT read and decided to join in. The tag was created by the blogger over at 24hryabookblog and the image above was borrowed from them as well!
HOW DO YOU ORGANIZE THE BOOKS ON YOUR SHELVES?
My “system” is somewhat haphazard. I have one YA bookcase in my room that’s organized by color—I love the rainbow effect! The other two bookcases in my room are also mostly YA books, but one shelf has some display books from series I love, and then the rest of the bookcase is random unread books that don’t fit the colors of my rainbow shelves. My final bookcase in my room is also random, mostly YA books with very little organization at all to it. Finally, I have a large bookcase downstairs that holds most of my middle grade books and some other random display books and old middle grade collections. A few of these shelves are color-coded, and then I have a section for verse novels. The rest of that bookshelf is sort of random.

(Yes, there’s also a stack of books next to it. Those are YA books I’ve already read and plan to donate.)
Funny side-story about my bookcase: My daughter Danielle recently had friends over after Homecoming, and apparently they were all in awe of this bookcase setup. (They didn’t see the other bookcases because they’re upstairs in my room—this one’s in the office). Danielle said they went on and on about the colors and my Funko Pops and other decorations, and they were pointing out specific books on the YA shelves all excitedly. I’ll confess I was giddy over the bookcase love. 🙂

I always love it when I get books that work well on my rainbow shelves. Give me a bright-colored spine and I’m happy!

I first got a copy of Cinder but then lost it somehow, so I got another copy to replace it. But that copy was just from the used bookstore and it wasn’t all that pretty. When my daughter decided she wanted to read the series too, I gave her that copy and told her she could do whatever with it—and then bought myself a new one. 🙂 (She did read the pretty copies of the rest of the series.) Oh, and then I won a copy of the book with the new cover from a GREAT read (same place I saw this tag!), so I have that copy too.

Hmmmm… maybe my book of all of Shakespeare’s works? I don’t talk about classics much on my blog, but I’ve always loved Shakespeare, and I’ve been in several of his plays.

Hahahaha! I have at least two bookshelves FULL of these. I actually don’t keep all that many books that I’ve already read. I mostly only keep favorites. (Or really pretty books. Sorry, not sorry.)
NAME A BOOK (OR BOOKS) THAT YOU DESPERATELY WANT TO ADD TO YOUR PERSONAL LIBRARY.
I would love old copies of a couple of the books I adored when I was a kid. A few that come to mind are The Girl with the Silver Eyes, Anna to the Infinite Power, and The Ghost Next Door. I have a copy of TGwtSE, but I’d love to have the actual version I had when I was a kid.
Okay, here’s a fun twist: As I was writing this post, I decided to do a quick search and actually found a copy of The Ghost Next Door that’s exactly like the one I had when I was a kid (from 1972!). It looks like it’s in great condition, so I went ahead and bought it. Can’t wait to revisit this old favorite!
